Musician draws inspiration from Plumas County landscape

Bennett Jackson is a consummate musician. He's a technically proficient songwriter and guitarist, a thoughtful lyricist, and he's educated in the country music canon.

In addition, he's intelligent and articulate in his understanding of country music and its importance in the American musical landscape.

Emergency Road Closure - Sloat Railroad Crossing

A temporary road closure is being made for emergency reconstruction of the Sloat railroad crossing. A total closure will occur from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, 27 Sept. 2010.

A single lane is expected to be open by 11:00 am.

Complete opening of the road should occur by 3:00 pm

90-year-old pedestrian struck by car in Quincy

A Chevy Colorado, driven by Blatazar Viscarra, 83, of Greenville struck pedestrian Joann Turk of Quincy as she crossed Main Street just east of its intersection with Court Street in Quincy.

 

Terms of convicted killer Loren Herzog's parole in Lassen County

It's official. Loren Herzog is a free man, according to top sources. The convicted murderer, one of two alleged serial killers known as the "Speed Freak Killers," did his time according to law and was paroled to Lassen County after several other counties including San Joaquin County, his last legal residence refused to allow him to parole there.
