Smoke spiraling up from the south bank of the Feather River marks a fire just east of Belden. The blaze was noted about 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, and Forest Service fire crews quickly responded. By 3 p.m. most of the flames were knocked down and crews were mopping up. Cause of the fire is suspected to be an unattended brush-burn that was fanned by heavy winds. A couple of outbuildings were destroyed along with some acreage. Photo By Will Farris
