Lightning across Plumas County

The first lightning storm of the season rolled across Plumas County Wednesday afternoon.  The storm moved up from the Tahoe/Truckee area to the Middle fork of the Feather River.  It then turned to the north east and moved across Quincy and up to Lake Almanor.

Jess and Neil Horning of Liquid Blue, the promoters of the Momboosa event in Chester, donated 40 general admission and four VIP tickets for the local drawing. When clients visited the participating businesses, they could sign up - no purchase was necessary. The winners were drawn at the local Chamber meeting Wednesday, July 14, 2010.

There are a limited number of frequencies available in airwaves, and what to do with them is the concern of the Federal Communications Commission. Currently, the FCC is considering usages for the UHF/VHF band left vacant with television’s transition to digital.

 

Building Department to focus on code enforcement

    The Plumas County Board of Supervisors approved Building Director John Cunningham’s request to fill a vacant code enforcement position that was funded in his budget at a June BOS meeting. 

  The department head told the supervisors his combined building and code enforcement department budgets were approximately $180,000 lighter than in the prior year.

 

A grand celebration planned for the Cy Hall Memorial Museum

After almost 20 years of dedicated work, directors of the Cy Hall Memorial Museum are ready for a grand opening celebration mixer Friday, July 9, at 5:30 p.m., with a special recognition program at 6:30 p.m.

The museum is located on the corner of Main and Mill streets, in the building many old-timers will remember as Miller’s warehouse.
