Quagga and Zebra mussels may be the size of a human fingernail, but they pose a very large threat to Californias waterways.
In a letter to 117 business owners, the California Quagga/Zebra mussels taskforce, comprised of nearly a dozen state and federal agencies, has asked marina owners and watercraft refueling stations to stay vigilant over this Independence Day holiday weekend and encourage their patrons to practice healthy boating practices.

Feather River College
At the Feather River College board meeting June 24, president Dr. Ron Taylor admitted to a “difficult situation” regarding the struggling student residence halls. The board had previously allocated a $350,000 loan to the college foundation to install new roofs and improve dilapidated buildings.
Breathing easier may be just a few more months away for residents who have lived in fear of wildfires since the Moonlight Fire in 2007 caused so many of them to evacuate their homes, and even the state during the weeks of smoke- and ash-filled skies that seemed to spread from Southern California all the way to the Oregon border.
