CattleWomen teach kids about jerky
Plumas County Living History Days, sponsored by Plumas County Museum, was the featured activity at the county museum grounds and county fairgrounds Tuesday, May 29, through Friday, June 1. Fourth-grade students from county schools participated in learning about how things were done in the pioneer days. The members of Plumas-Sierra CattleWomen were asked to participate by giving a hands-on presentation about the history and making of jerky.

Mohawk Valley gears up for Fourth
The Fourth of July will be celebrated early in Mohawk Valley, with a dance Friday, June 29, fireworks Saturday, June 30, and the traditional parade Sunday, July 1.
With the Fourth of July falling on a Wednesday this year, event organizers had a choice — celebrate early or celebrate late.

CHP wins Jackson case
A jury ruled Wednesday that two California Highway Patrol officers had legitimate reasons for pulling over Ruth Jackson and arresting her on suspicion of driving under the influence nearly three years ago.
Judge Thomas E. Warriner read the verdict at 3:30 p.m. in Plumas County Superior Court in Quincy. The jurors deliberated most of the day before reaching a verdict.

Victim threatened to go on ‘murder spree’
According to a press release issued Wednesday afternoon, June 20, by Plumas County District Attorney Dave Hollister, the man shot and killed by a Plumas County sheriff’s deputy Tuesday evening had threatened to go on a “murder spree.”
