12 p.m. update: Unofficial final results: Lundy and Kennedy will have a runoff for Plumas County District 5 supervisor. Dick Lundy received 943 total votes for 48.99 percent of the total and Jon Kennedy received 841 votes for 43.69 percent of the total. Lundy would have needed 50 percent plus one vote to win outright.  Ralph Wittick ended up with 136 votes or 7.06 percent.

Plumas County voters made an honest man out of Greg Hagwood, elevating him from appointed sheriff to elected sheriff with an overwhelming 81.9 percent of the vote Tuesday, June 8.

Incumbent county assessor Chuck Leonhardt retained his seat with a hefty 76.06 percent.

CalTrans comes to Greenville

Those interested in the future of the highway through Greenville are encouraged to attend a public open house Thursday, June 10, 2010.

On display, from 4-6 p.m., will be plans for a $4.5 million project to improve many facets of the Highway 89 corridor through town, including drainage, sidewalks and handicap access.

A crowd gathered under an overcast sky June 3 to witness the renaming of Portola's post office as the Jeremiah Paul McCleery Post Office in honor of the young man's death May 2, 2009, at a combat outpost in Hamman Alil, Iraq. McCleery was a 2004 graduate of Portola High School.

All Plumas County newspapers will be going to press late Tuesday night so that an election story will be available on the front page of the printed newspapers and available at newsstands in each Plumas County community by early Wednesday morning.

Plumas County election results will also be posted here Tuesday evening as the Plumas County Clerk makes them available after the polls close, with a link provided below.

Susanville & Chester, CA - The Lassen National Forest's Almanor Ranger District is planning on implementing a prescribed burn in the Betty Sue project area. The project's south end is located three miles north of Westwood and extends three miles north, directly west of Highway A-21. Up to 650 acres could be burned over the course of several days. Ignition could start as early as June 9th. Watch for smoke on A-21 as well as Highway 36 in the vicinity of Westwood.
