CHP makes major heroin bust

A stop of a speeding motorist turned into a major drug bust by the Quincy California Highway Patrol on Saturday night, Feb. 25.

A CHP officer found four bundles of heroin, with a street value of about $250,000, while he was processing an unlicensed driver’s car before it was impounded.

Woman arrested driving stolen car

A Lake Almanor woman was arrested Friday night, Feb. 24, on multiple charges, including auto theft.

Georgia Ann Miles, 34, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on Portsmouth Street in Taylorsville.

QHS senior organizes Relay benefit

For his senior project, Quincy High senior Ethan Skemp is organizing a Relay for Life benefit dinner Sunday, Feb. 26. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. in the Mineral Building at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds.

Aspiring chef Tony Schafer will make dinner and Kayla Westman is making dessert.

Convicted burglar Loretz captured

A convicted burglar who has been on the run since November was captured in Los Angeles County on Wednesday night.

Former Graeagle resident Rebecca Victoria Loretz, 38, was apprehended by members of the United States Marshal’s Office working in close contact with the Plumas County Sheriff and District Attorney.
