Hiker missing for two days found safe

An attack by a swarm of yellow jackets led to two nights alone in the forest for a Berry Creek woman last week.

Carley Rubanoff, 20, was found by Plumas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel about 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

Rubanoff was rescued just a few hundred yards from where she was last seen the morning of Sept. 22, while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail near Spanish Peak. She spent more than 48 hours alone in the woods.

Plumasnews.com and Lassennews.com victims of massive hack attack

The server that hosts lassennews.com and plumasnews.com websites was hacked early Sunday morning, Sept. 25, 2011.

At this time both websites have been fully restored from a backup.

Websites hosted on InMotion Hosting network were hacked by a hacker named TiGER-M@TE, including the websites of Feather Publishing.

PSREC finds ways to meet changing needs

“It’s been an incredible year in the energy business,” said Dave Roberti, 2011 president of the Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative (PSREC) board of directors. He was speaking at the Sept. 10 annual board meeting and membership gathering. “But we are not going to be able to rest on our laurels.”
