Supervisor candidates state their case during public forum
District 4 Supervisor Lori Simpson didn’t mince words during last week’s candidate forum.
“You need to elect me again. No bones about it,” Simpson said. “I admire these two (challengers Barry Gossett and James Huffmon) and I will appoint them to some commissions and let them get up to speed. I’m already up to speed.”

After taking the winter off, photography hobbyist and Lake Almanor Basin resident Jan Davies has again hit her stride in capturing incredible wildlife scenes.
Catching sight of an osprey that had just made his selection from the interactive lunch menu featured by the North Fork Feather River, she trailed him as he flew down Main Street in Chester.

Two people injured in single-car crash
Two people were injured on Monday, April 30, during a single-car accident in Quincy.
Luke Medeiros, 19, of Quincy, and Melissa Kalbfleisch, 18, of Reno were transported to Plumas District Hospital after the car Kalbfleisch was driving struck a guardrail.
The accident happened at 1 p.m. on Quincy Junction Road, north of Clear Creek Road.

Woman found dead in Feather River
On Friday, April 27, two men preparing for an afternoon of kayaking saw an “unconscious woman” floating face-down in the Feather River at Rich Bar.
“We weren’t sure if the person was alive,” said Quincy resident Kurt Sable. “Conner (Herdt) yelled at the person and was prepared to throw a rope.”

Separation agreement finalized; Harris to get year’s severance pay
The Plumas Unified School District board has reached a separation agreement with Superintendent Glenn Harris that will pay him $10,775 a month for 12 months. He will also receive $950 a month for health care.
The agreement became final at midnight Thursday night, April 26, following elapse of a seven-day grace period. The board released the agreement Friday morning, April 27.
