Investigation of sexual assault in Lassen Park results in arrest

A Red Bluff mother reported to the Red Bluff Police Department that her daughter had been sexually molested earlier this year by Vernon Lee Williamson Jr., age 61. Red Bluff Police Department detectives were able to determine that the minor child (under 12) was molested in Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Logue to host townhall meeting with CHP in Graeagle

North State Assemblyman Dan Logue is hosting a townhall meeting with northern divisional leadership from the California Highway Patrol. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Graeagle Fire Hall, 7620 Highway 89.

An open meeting between the public and CHP was requested after Logue held private meetings with community leaders and CHP representatives regarding concerns Logue’s office had received from constituents in Plumas County.

Seneca District Hospital passes annual audit with flying colors

“You can pat yourself on the back for an excellent year and then go back to work,” said certified public accountant Jerrel Tucker, TCA Partners, LLP, to the Seneca Healthcare District board of directors Sept. 29.

Tucker’s comment immediately followed his positive report on the audit for fiscal year 2010-11.

Prescribed Burning on Eagle Lake Ranger District

The Lassen National Forest Will be conducting a prescribed burn on the Eagle Lake Ranger District. The Champs Defensible Fuel Profile Zone (DFPZ) Underburn on Monday, October 17 through Friday, October 21. Ignition dates and acreage estimates may change depending on conditions and resource availability.

Fatal vehicle accident in the Feather River Canyon

From PG&E spokesman Paul Moreno: "Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to the families and friends of all the employees involved, as well as their colleagues and crew members. We are currently looking into ways that PG&E can support the employees' families. It is a sad day in the PG&E family."

9:15 a.m. - The California Highway Patrol has identified the two PG&E workers who perished in the 4:30 p.m. accident. Both of the men were from the Chico area. The driver was 29-year-old Ryan Patrick Miles, and the front seat passenger, 31-year-old Aaron Joseph Weiss. The men were unable to exit the vehicle after it left the roadway about half a mile before the Rock Creek Dam and both apparently drowned in the submerged truck.
