Shooting victim dies
The Reno, Nev., man charged in the death of 20-year-old Susanville man Rory C. McGuire was arraigned in Plumas County Superior Court on Tuesday.
Judge Ira Kaufman set a preliminary trial date for July 18 at 10 a.m. for Gregory Wallin-Reed, 36.
Reed is charged with killing McGuire following a car chase late Saturday night on the Janesville grade near Antelope Lake.
Wallin-Reed is accused of shooting at a car containing McGuire and five other men.

Visitors bureau gets reprieve; county budget worsens
The Plumas County Visitors Bureau will stay in business for at least another three months.
But the county’s budget problems actually took a turn for the worse last week.
Plumas Corporation — the nonprofit organization that oversees the visitors bureau — dipped into its savings account to fund the bureau through September.

Tigan appointed Portola City Manager
The Portola City Council appointed Leslie Tigan the new city manager by a 3-to-1 vote at the last regular meeting of the council June 22.
Council member John Larrieu made the motion to appoint Tigan as interim city manager effective July 1 and continuing until successful negotiation and approval of an employment contract with her. His motion received a second from council member Curt McBride; Mayor Pro Tem Juliana Mark was in agreement and council member William Weaver voted “nay.” Mayor Dan Wilson was absent but had endorsed the plan prior to leaving on vacation.

Fatality reported at Frazier Falls near Graeagle
7:30 a.m. Update
Fall victim identified
A 73-year-old Reno man is dead after a fall mid-morning Sunday, July 3, from a portion of the Frazier Falls trail in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area outside of Graeagle.
John F. Seeliger was pronouced dead at the scene after Plumas County Search and Rescue responded.
Plumas County Sheriff Greg Hagwood is reporting a multiple shooting Saturday night at a very remote location in the vicinity of Antelope Lake. Three young men from Lassen County were shot following a vehicle chase by a property owner after an alledged theft attempt.
