Community Development Commission (CDC) Executive Director David Keller announced at a December CDC board meeting that the county would be receiving $526,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Disaster Recovery Initiative.
During recent storm events in Greenville, fecal contamination levels in Wolf Creek exceeded state water quality standards, but whether or not the source is the sewer ponds remains in question.
Creek samples at intervals above and below the ponds were required after a leak was discovered last summer in a sewer pond used as a secondary sump, or transfer pond.

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors unanimously directed county staff to submit an appeal to the Forest Service, protesting the Plumas National Forest’s (PNF) new Travel Management Plan, at a Tuesday, Dec. 19, meeting.
Public Works Director Bob Perreault told the board multiple county committees reviewed the Forest Service’s plan, resulting in a recommendation that the board appeal the decision.
The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the special election Jan. 4 has now passed. Voters who want to vote will have to come to the courthouse in Quincy and pick up a ballot.
Voters may vote at the courthouse, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Regular polling places will not be used for this special consolidated election. Voters should note the courthouse will be closed Friday, Dec. 31.
