Arsonist set Highway 36 Halloween fires
Halloween started off with burning passion. On Monday, Oct. 31, about 5 a.m. emergency services responded to Highway 36 on the west side of Westwood, Calif.
Five fires were intentionally started just off the roadway between the Lassen and Plumas county line.

Portola defeats Quincy
The Portola High School football team defeated Quincy 42-21 in their final match of the regular season Saturday, Nov. 5. Portola's Zach Martinez rushed for 242 yards and scored four touchdowns, including a 97-yard kickoff return. For the complete story, see Wednesday's sports section.
Coyote roaming Chester streets
Coyote spotted twice on Saturday November 5th on Richardson way. Spotted once at aprrox 9:30 a.m. and then again at 3;15. He is favoring his hind leg.

CHP leaders stress communication during townhall meeting
In its ongoing effort to mend fences with Plumas County drivers, the California Highway Patrol hosted a townhall meeting Oct. 22 in Graeagle.
The forum at the Graeagle Fire Hall was the first open public meeting by the CHP to address mounting complaints about officer conduct on county roads.
