League hosts host of forums

The League of Women Voters will host the candidates for U.S. Congressional District 4 in a debate Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall Theatre.

There are three candidates running for the 4th District seat in Congress: Republican incumbent Tom McClintock, Democrat Clint Curtis and Independent Ben Emery. Each candidate has been invited.

Broken main disrupts Portola water supply

At approximately 8 PM last night the city experienced the rupture of a 12-inch water transmission line at Beckwourth and Loyalton streets. This is a main water line to the City's water storage tanks and the South side of the City. City crew have been working on the repair throughout the night and
this morning had to order additional pipe material from Western Supply in Reno.

District 5 supervisor candidates debate

Supervisorial candidates for the District 5 run-off election, Jon Kennedy and Dick Lundy, faced off one last time in Graeagle Sept, 30. Both candidates have had time to hone their messages, which were well presented and well informed regarding District 5 and county issues for the most part.

Ever since 1990, when it was first moved from beside the railroad tracks next to Greenville Wolf Creek Road, the historic Western Pacific Freight Depot was thought to be sitting on part of the Greenville Community Park property.
