High Sierra Community -Youth Orchestra auditions start

The High Sierra Community-Youth Orchestra is rosining bows and blowing horns to invite you to join its musical family.

The Fall 2010/Winter 2011 season starts Wednesday, Oct. 6. Rehearsals will be held at the Quincy Junior-Senior High School band room Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:50 p.m. every week.

CEO Hathaway out at PDH

In further fallout from its tax assessment crisis, Plumas District Hospital directors met in closed session Tuesday, Sept. 28, to terminate Chief Executive Officer Dick Hathaway's employment "in order to effectuate a change in leadership style." His last day was Sept. 29.

New Quincy courthouse project public meeting

Sierra Valley Special Apprentice Hunt Application Deadline Extended

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) has extended the application deadline for two upcoming junior pheasant hunts. Applicants now have until Monday, Oct. 4 to apply for two Game Bird Heritage Special Apprentice Hunts to be held Sat., Oct. 16 at Headwaters Honker Preserve in Plumas County.

Public comment needed on new courthouse location

Quincy Supervisor Lori Simpson called a meeting Tuesday, Sept. 21, to let the public comment on the factors they want considered in site selection for the new courthouse.

Throughout the meeting it was apparent Simpson’s impression coming into the event was that no consensus could be reached among the public because “a lot of people have different wishes.”
