Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council acquires White Sulphur Springs Ranch
The California Department of Transportation’s Environmental Enhancement and Mitigation Program has awarded the Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council a grant in the amount of $500,000 toward the acquisition of the ranch for its value as a roadside recreational facility.

Randy Beck fundraising dinner, auction this Friday
A tri-tip meal, auction and drawing will be held at Pioneer Park Pavilion on Fairgrounds Road in Quincy this Friday, Sept. 10, from 4 - 8 p.m. to raise money to help lifelong resident Randy Beck with his rising medical expenses resulting from his extensive battle with cancer.

Greenville is proving ground for new radar device

Greenville is once again a proving ground for experiments with life-saving technologies that may be used in both humanitarian and military or homeland security applications.
This time, it wasn't an invention of renowned Greenville and Bay Area resident Bill Wattenburg, although he played a key role in bringing people together to make it happen.

Plumas Eureka State Park to re-open
The Plumas Eureka State Park Campground is set to re-open for the Labor Day weekend. The campground was closed a few weeks ago so State Park and Public Health officials could control fleas associated with wild rodents.

Highway 70 - 1-way controlled traffic in Feather River Canyon
4:30 p.m. update - The Caltrans website is now reporting 1-way controlled traffic by the accident scene.
3:30 p.m. - Highway 70 is closed in the Feather River Canyon .3 miles west of Rich Bar due to a vehicle accident. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route. CalTrans has no estimate of how long it will take to clear the highway.
