March 26 deadline looms for public comment on GWC rate hike

Graeagle Water Co. customers have until March 26 to weigh in on a proposed 40 percent rate hike that will generate $179,133 in added revenue for the private utility.

The recommendation (Proposed Resolution W-5027) is scheduled to be on the California Public Utilities Commission’s April 9 agenda for its meeting in San Francisco. At that time, the CPUC may choose to act on the resolution, postpone it or change it. Add a comment

On Monday morning, just after 5:30 a.m., a logging truck accident on Highway 89 between Canyon Dam and Greenville resulted in a fatality.

Terence Eck, 40, of Princeton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At approximately 5:35 a.m., Eck was driving a fully loaded 2014 Kenworth logging truck southbound, just north of Greenville-Wolf Creek Road. Add a comment

When the new owners of the old Victorian-style house on the corner of Jackson and Fillmore streets in downtown Quincy started its renovation, they didn’t know what to expect.

They certainly didn’t expect to find a time capsule from the ’70s, but that’s just what they discovered.

The Lowell family constructed the house in 1877, but sold the house to Greenleaf Greeley Clough shortly after in 1879. Add a comment
