A Tuesday evening mishap between a vehicle and a pedestrian sent a man to the hospital with major head injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Londa Lehman, 66, of Quincy was driving westbound on Lawrence Street and preparing to turn left onto Church Street. Michael Thorton, 40, of Lodi was walking eastbound on the south sidewalk of Lawrence and came to a stop at the intersection with Lawrence. Thorton allowed several vehicles to pass before proceeding eastbound in the crosswalk on Lawrence. Lehman did not see Thorton and turned left onto Church Street.
The right front of Lehman’s 1992 Dodge Ram struck Thorton and knocked him to the ground. Lehman stopped when she realized that she had hit something and aided Thorton until emergency personnel arrived. Thorton complained of head pain, and had a large laceration to his head along with multiple abrasions. He was transported to Plumas District Hospital.
