Plumas Bank has announced that Leigh Calanglang has been appointed vice president, information systems manager. He is responsible for network administration, eBanking, item processing and overseeing the customer resource center. Leigh has more than 13 years of technology experience, most recently as network administrator. He is a graduate of the University of Phoenix, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in information technology and his master’s degree in information systems.

“Leigh brings an ideal background to this key position in the bank. With his strong credentials, leadership capabilities and extensive experience in IT management, he will be an excellent addition to the Plumas Bank team,” said Rose Dembosz, executive vice president and operations manager.

new hours; new plan

Julie Hatzell, owner of the Alley Cat Cafe in Quincy, has made a few changes to her popular establishment for winter. They are now open Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. She said they are taking a break from serving lunches, but will continue to serve the many items they have become so well known for, including espresso, coffee, tea, whole fruit smoothies and pastries. Julie plans to use this time to pursue winter evening entertainment and meeting room options for community events and/or private parties at the West End Theatre, where her cafe is located.

Ed Ward and Candi Ward have closed the Graeagle Restaurant for winter. They look forward to seeing and serving their faithful patrons when they reopen next spring.

special buying trip to truckee

Ashley Stevenson and Charlotte Smith of Main Street Styles traveled to Truckee recently on a special buying trip for their downtown Quincy clothing store. They said a small group of vendors were there offering personalized service in a very relaxed atmosphere. The ladies said it was easy to pick just the right clothing styles for the entire family.

the turkey tradition continues

Greenville’s John Papenhausen continues the tradition of giving away holiday turkeys started by his father, Russell, in 1968. Beginning Nov. 15 and continuing through Dec. 23, Mohawk Trading Co. will give away three turkeys each week. Just stop by and enter.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday you can now get breakfast 8 – 11 a.m. at Lena’s Cantina on Sierra Street (Highway 70) in Portola, reports owner Lena Nelson.

 Mexican and American breakfast dishes are now being served Monday through Saturday, 6 – 11 a.m., at Rico’s Mexican Food in Portola, report owners Fransisco and Norma Juarez.
