This Friday, Dec. 7, at the Sparkle night in downtown Quincy, local contra dancers will provide an opportunity for community dancing.
“Such a crowd will be there!” said Leslie Mink, organizer and caller. “It should be fun! We’ll do one, maybe two easy circle dances. Come join us in front of the courthouse at 6 p.m.”
Then, on Saturday, Dec. 8, Mink will be a guest caller for the regular contra dance in Reno.
The Sierra Contra Dance Society dancers meet at the old Southside School (190 E. Liberty in Reno) at 7:30 p.m. Those not familiar with contra dance are encouraged to attend the 7:15 newcomers’ session.
Those interested in facilitating carpooling to Reno are invited to call Mink at 283-0137.
A band of musicians from Quincy will accompany Mink and provide live music for the dancers. This band is known for its lively sound, featuring Kenny Davis at the keyboard.
The Sierra Contra Dance Society welcomes new members.More information and a schedule is available at sierracontra.org.
