Nominations sought for community sustainability awards

  Quincy Earth Days Committee is excited to announce the fifth Community Sustainability Awards. The winners of the awards will be announced at the Town Hall Theatre in downtown Quincy on April 24 at 7 p.m.

  The awards are designed to acknowledge those in the community who demonstrate a commitment to environmental, social/cultural and economic sustainability.

Nomination Form

All community members are invited to nominate local (Plumas County) individuals or groups that embody one or more of the characteristics listed above. Nominations for the awards will fall into four categories: individual, business, group (nonprofit, organization, club) and student. Nominations can be dropped off at or mailed to Quincy Natural Foods Cooperative at 269 Main St., Quincy, CA 95971. Nominations can also be completed online at or emailed to All nominations must be submitted by April 5.

  The winners will be chosen by a panel that includes students, members of local organizations and other members of the community. The awards coincide with a number of Earth Day-themed events that take place throughout the week of April 20 – 26, including a restoration work day at the Heart K Ranch with Feather River Land Trust, workshops at Quincy Natural Foods’ Learning Center and a film showing of “Chasing Ice,” also April 24.

  Past winners include Quincy Natural Foods Cooperative, Tiffani Wilson, Elizabeth Powell, Wilbur Vaughn, Collins Pine Co., Bill and Mel Rockett, Feather River Coordinated Resource Management, Thompson Valley Ranch, Dale Ready, Sierra Park Homes, Quincy Thrift, Sierra Valley Farms, Plumas Arts, Bill Battagin, Dan Brown, Simple Fuels, Community Connections and Abby Edwards.
