The Feather River All-Stars, the junior Little League team made up of players from Quincy, Portola and Loyalton, stomped over their opponents in the Junior League California District 48 double-elimination tournament played June 28 through July 2 on the fields at Feather River College.

Four other teams showed up to compete for the district title. A team made up of players from Greenville and Chester, a Modoc team, a Susanville team and the All-Mountain team out of Fall River all battled for the title. All players were aged 13 – 14.

The Feather River All-Stars went undefeated with three wins to eliminate their competition. The All-Stars got off to a good start with an 11-3 win over Modoc in their first game. The team’s skills continued to shine brightly through the tournament.

The Feather River All-Stars took down the Greenville/Chester team 15-1 in their second game of the tournament. Finally, all teams were eliminated except the All-Stars and Modoc.

Before the final game July 2, an unexpected hail storm covered the field with chunks of ice. The Feather River All-Stars all grabbed rakes and made sure the area was playable. Once again, the All-Stars walloped Modoc; this time by a score of 19-1.

The Feather River All-Stars will move on to the sectional tournament. The tournament will be held at Feather River College on July 13 – 17. The tournament will include four teams and be held in a double-elimination format. July 13 and 14 games will be held at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 15 – 17 games will be played at 5 p.m.
