Contrary to a story in Feather Publishing newspapers July 10, Feather Publishing has been unable to confirm that a fire crew spotted in Graeagle in early May was in fact the Granite Mountain Hotshots.
Nineteen members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots died battling a wildfire June 30 in Yarnell, Ariz.
According to reliable sources, the firefighters who were in Graeagle from May 5 to 16 were members of the Silver City Hotshots from Silver City, N.M.
The Silver City Hotshots, a crew from the Gila National Forest, were providing backup coverage for the national forest as the Plumas Hotshot crews were on assignment out of the area.
Feather Publishing regrets the error.
