Notice of Proposed Action - Gold Lake Boat Launch Facility
Improvements Project
Plumas National Forest
Beckwourth Ranger District
Sierra County, California
Opportunity to Comment on the Gold Lake Boat Launch Facility Improvements Project
The Gold Lake Boat Launch is a recreation facility located on the Beckwourth Ranger Distrit. Gold Lake is the largest lake (500 acres) of 35 lakes and is the focal point of the Lakes Basin Recreation Area. This project will expand and resurface a more efficent boat parking area at Gold Lake. The proposed design will increase the number of parking stalls from 34 with two accessible sites, to 63 parking stalls with three accessible parking stalls, doubling the capacity of the facility. Currently the exisitng pavement is very thin, weathered and worn through, and is structurally inadequate. The project will remove islands, cut and fill the footprint, remove the existing asphalt, repair failed areas. The footprint will be repaved with three inches of new AC. Theparking area will be og sealed and striped. A solar light will be installed at the public ramp to ensure safety. The project will provide new directional signs and a concrete credit sign showing the parterniship with the California Deparment of Boating and Waterways. The new facilites will meet all the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act.
The project is located at the Gold Lake Boat Launch Facility, Lakes Basin Recreation Area on the Plumas National Forest In Sierra County. Township 21 N, Range 11 E. Section ,17, Mt. Diablo Base Meridian. A project map detailing the proposed project is available for review at the Beckwourth District Office.
