LACC Women’s Golf

Aug. 6 Club Championship

  Congratulations to Mary Craig, our 2013 Club Champion. Mary earned the title by scoring the lowest gross score over three days of play.

  Eighteen players competed in this tournament. The other winners were:

  Flight One: first place, Linda Johnson; second place, Carol Lunsford, and third place, Jessie King.

  The low net winner was Lee Hunter.

  In the Second Flight, Linda Yaap took first place, Dana Seandel, second, and Joan Johnson, third.

  Joan D’Angelo was low net winner.

  Next week starts our team match play tournament.

Ladies Golf Club

Aug. 6

  Our field of ladies participated in another Ace of Aces competition today. Low gross went to both JoAnn West and Barbara Competello. Low net went to Jenine Fraser. Congrats, ladies. Play was followed by a general meeting and luncheon.

Graeagle Men’s Golf Wednesday Play Day

  The format for the Wednesday Play Day was Sixes. In this format, one ball counts for the score on the first six holes, two balls count on the next six holes and three balls count on the final six holes.

  The winning team in the White Tee Flight was made up of Gary Maniery, Jack Gilbert and Mike Herrington with a score of 123. The second place team members were Chuck Pratt, Jim Adams and George Fraser with a score of 139. Six skins were won, one each by Jim Adams, Mike Herrington, Bryan Hansen, Gary Maniery and Ken Stevenson.

  In the Combo Tee Flight, the winning team was made up of Ron Eaton, Dennis Flynn and Tom Gossett with a score of 128. Second place was the team of Ron Tobler, Wayne Austin and Bill Smidt with a score of 129. Eleven skins were won in the Combo Tee Flight, five by Ron Eaton, two each by Ron Tobler and Bill Smidt, and one each by Ted Leavitt and Dennis Flynn.

Monday Madness

  The field for Monday Madness was somewhat reduced because of a conflict with the Women’s Invitational at Plumas Pines being held on the same day. However, there were still 28 participants who played. The format was par points.

  First place in the White/Red Tee Flight was Randy Peterson and Dan Friedman with a score of 63. Second place was the team of Holly and Dan Anderson with a score of 49. Third place was the team of Jim Adams and Chuck Franck with a score of 41.

  In the Combo Tee Flight, the winning team was Dick Eck and Dwayne Austin with a score of 63. Second place was the team of Bob McIlroy and Gary Kinkley with a score of 59.

Mt. Huff Golf Scores

Wednesday, Aug. 7

  A return of cooler weather brought out a good number of golfers for the Mt. Huff Wednesday Morning Scramble.

  Greg Stevens, Jeff Stevens and Darel Joseph led the pack in first place at 11 under par.

  In second place at 8 under par was the team of Don McConnell, Gary Metzdorf and Loren Lindner.

  Closest to the pin was grabbed by Darel Joseph, while Ralph Cote won the chip-in competition.

  Great round!

Thursday, Aug. 8

  Thursday evening’s scramble played in cooler temperatures and great camaraderie! Three teams placed.

  The first place team members were Greg Stevens, Dick Dalton, Robert Turcotte and Margie Joseph.

  In second place after a chip-in tie-breaker was the team of Mike Willits, Tucker Willits, Kurt Hall and Vernon Wiltse.

  Third place team members were Mike Ingle, Butch Back, Chuck Thrall and Dick Grace.

  Recognition for the longest drive went to Greg Stevens while Dick Dalton scored the closest to the pin.

  Good times!


  Three clubs and a putter was the game of choice for the West Almanor club on Aug. 8.

  Taking first place in the first flight was Karen Tratt with a score of 68. She had a birdie on the tenth hole. Second place went to Linda Kluge who shot a 69 and third went to Julie Azevedo with a 69.

  In the second flight, Pam Joseph took first place with a 72. She birdied hole number 14. Shirley Friedrichs was second with a 75. She had a chip-in birdie on hole 12 and a chip in on hole 15. Carla Medici took third place with a 76.

  Kathy Doms had a birdie on hole number 2 and Carol Regimbal had a chip in on hole number 11.

  Thursday, Aug. 15, is the club’s annual open tournament. The theme is Italia.
