Plumas-Sierra County Fair opens this week - parade Saturday

Clowns stroll down Main Street during last year’s county fair parade. The parade is always a highlight of the Plumas-Sierra County Fair (Aug. 14-18) and takes place this Saturday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. in downtown Quincy. Photo by Laura Beaton

The iconic county fair parade takes place this Saturday, Aug. 17 in downtown Quincy at 10 a.m. (not 10:30 as reported in last week's Fair Guide.) The Quincy Fire Department hosts its annual pancake breakfast immediately before the parade from 7– 10 a.m. at the fire station on Lawrence Street.

Come join the fun as dozens of colorful floats and entrants march, dance, sing and ride their way down Main Street in the Quincy Chamber of Commerce and Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds’ Fair Parade.

One lucky parade participant will win the grand prize of $100 and better yet, the smiles and applause of hundreds of parade watchers.

After the parade, the county fairgrounds is ready and waiting to provide big time entertainment that covers the gamut from carnival to rodeo, cotton candy and lemonade to animal exhibits, livestock auctions, displays of art, flowers, photography, home goods and so much more.
