Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club
We had a smaller field this morning partly because of the smoke in the valley. We played a Modified Stableford using our net scores for each twosome. The winning team was Virginia Luhring and Chris Hyatt. Second place went to Diane Romig and a Blind Draw. Lynn Smith chipped in to win this week’s money. Nice going ladies!
North Sierra Zone Championship
Mt. Hough Golf Club sent a group of four men to the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) sponsored event North Sierra Zone Championship on July 29-30. The 2-day four-person two best ball event was held at Quail Lodge Golf Resort in Carmel and Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey. After the first day, the group was in fifth place, but the second day proved to be their strong day with three net eagles and six net birdies bringing them to three strokes behind the leaders. The group of Ron Christensen of Quincy, Dick Grace and Mike Ingle, both of Greenville, and Darel Joseph, of Taylorsville, took second place medals. But along with medals, they earned the honor of returning Aug. 26 – 27 to participate in the NCGA Zone Championship. The top two teams from each zone in northern California started this two-day competition at Spyglass Golf Course in Pebble Beach and the second day at Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey. They came home with smiles on their faces after finishing 12th in this tough competition and a field of 26 teams. The Mt. Huff Golf Course is in Crescent Mills and you can see these four almost any day of the week out there sharpening their skills. Both the course and the club are proud of our members and congratulate them all on their success.
Mt. Huff Golf Course
A chilly morning gave way to a beautiful, albeit windy Wednesday morning for the Mt. Huff Wednesday Morning Scramble.
At the great score of nine under par, the team of Ron Christensen, Gary Metzdorf and Ralph Cote were on fire.
Not to be too far outdone, the second place team of Greg Stevens, Darel Joseph and Mike Ingle came in at seven under par.
The chip-in winner with two chip-ins was Gary Metzorf. Dick Grace took the closest to the pin honor.
