A jury found Gregory Chad Wallin-Reed guilty of first-degree murder in the 2011 shooting death of Rory McGuire.

Jurors deliberated less than four hours before delivering the verdict Thursday morning, Sept. 26, in Plumas County Superior Court in Quincy.

In addition to murder, Wallin-Reed was found guilty of seven other felonies, including shooting at an occupied vehicle, illegal possession of an assault weapon and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The charges stem from an 8-mile car chase near Antelope Lake that ended with Wallin-Reed firing an AR-15 assault rifle at a fleeing car containing six young men from Susanville.

McGuire, who was shot in the head, died two days after the July 2, 2011, shooting. Two passengers in the car were wounded.

Wallin-Reed is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 21.
