The Feather River College women’s basketball team started its season on the road. The last two weeks, the lady Eagles competed in tournaments at San Joaquin Delta and Cosumnes River College.

The Eagles started their season with a game against Fresno on Nov. 8 at San Joaquin Delta. Fresno, ranked No. 1 in the North Region in the California Community College Athletic Association’s preseason poll, took down the Eagles 97-34.

“I wanted to show the girls what the best team looks like,” commented FRC’s coach, Haley White. “Now we know what we have to strive for. Also, we’ll be better prepared for conference play.”

The next day Feather River went up against a team more level in skill and experience, but still fell short to lose 66-51 to Monterey City College.

Amy Yeager was the team’s high scorer against Monterey with 20 points. Yeager sank six three-pointers and one two-pointer. Natasha Reel contributed 10 points in her 20 minutes of play and Ashley Hibbard managed eight points off two field goals and four free-throws.
