Plumas National Forest
Beckwourth Ranger District
Plumas County, California
Opportunity to Comment on: The Layman Association Water Tank Replacement and Renewal of a Special Use Permit. The Beckwourth Ranger District proposes to allow the Layman Association to replace a 20,000 gallon, steel "bolted" water tank, that was damaged during the winter of 2012/2013. The new tank would have a diameter of approximately 18 ft. 6 inches and would sit on a gravel base having a diameter of approximately 21 feet. The tank would be 12 feet high and dark green in color. The tank base would be reconnected to the existing water inlet and outlet piping to the distribution lines. This water tank supplies domestic water to the Layman Cabins. The proposed decision would include the renewal of a twenty-year Special Use Permit authorizing use of the tank and water transmission lines.
The project is located on the Beckwourth Ranger District, Plumas National Forest; Mohawk, California, Township 23N, Range 12E, Section 30. The project is located approximately alongside National Forest System Road 23N04, approximately 0.6 miles from pavement end. and behind Camp Layman.
