Downed power line causes power outage and road closure

Feather Publishing

At approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, a power line fell across Highway 70 at the crest of what is commonly referred to as Cemetery Hill in Quincy. The line remained fully energized causing both a power outage and road closure.

A PG&E crew that was immediately dispatched from Red Buff hopes to have the highway reopened and power fully restored by noon today, Sunday.

Initially 1,545 customers were affected and by 8:30 a.m.. power was restored to all but only 236 customers.

Thru traffic is being told to use Lee Road until the highway is reopened.

The utility company has not determined what caused the line to come down.
