FRC baseball players achieve academically

The Feather River College baseball team placed seven players on the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association’s Academic All-State Team for 2014.

The all-state team is made up of sophomores from the 2013 and 2014 seasons and the Golden Eagles led the team with the seven selections. The Golden Eagles placed three pitchers on the team, one catcher, two infielders and one outfielder.

Two of the pitchers are former Golden Eagles: Matt Thomas (3.78 grade-point average) and Jace Puckett (3.64) along with current Golden Eagle Clay Eagleton (3.69). Thomas is now pitching at University of Nevada Las Vegas and Puckett at San Jose State.

Former Golden Eagle catcher Jose Sierra (3.58) joined former Golden Eagle infielder Jeremy Rosenthal (3.53) and current Golden Eagle Kody Kuhlman (3.62) on the team. Sierra is playing this season at the University of Texas Permian-Basin, while Rosenthal is playing for Kansas Wesleyan. The outfield representative for the Golden Eagles is current sophomore Alden Goebel (3.65).
