Supervisor seeks volunteers for planning advisory group

M. Kate West

Plumas County District 3 Supervisor Sherrie Thrall recently made a Basin-wide announcement regarding the need for Lake Almanor Basin residents to participate in the Plumas County General Plan process.

“I am looking for volunteers to serve on the General Plan Working Group for District 3. This is an opportunity to have direct influence on the General Plan process,” she said.

She explained the purpose of the working group would be to assist and guide the update of the Plumas County General Plan. Each of the five county supervisors will appoint eight to 10 people living in his or her district to an advisory group.

As to the overall obligation for volunteer service, Thrall said,The General Plan consultants tell me there will be about three meetings over the next year and the meetings will be held here in the Almanor Basin.

In Plumas County, citizen participation in our local government is essential. Local government is the form of government closest to us in our everyday lives, and the one we are most able to influence. Our Plumas County advisory groups play a very important role in county government.”

Interested volunteers may contact the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors (283-6170).

Applications, due Nov. 25, are also available from Plumas County Planning Department at 283-6213, or the information and forms are available online at countyofplumas.com.

“You do not have to be an expert on land use or planning. We want input from our citizens.  Please consider being a part of this important process,” said Thrall.
