Most PUSD schools open Monday with slightly slower buses

Heavy snow fell on Plumas County overnight, but most public schools are open for business and on time. The one exception is the Portola Jr/Senior High School which has been closed because of a malfunctioning heater system. Feather Publishing just got off the phone with the bus barn and the buses are running with chains. Allow for slight bus delays due to reduced speeds on the roads.

R-1 Chain restrictions in the Chester, Greenville and Quincy areas: Chains are required on all commercial vehicles (trucks or buses). All other vehicles (cars, pick-ups, vans, etc.) must have either snow tread tires or chains on the drive axle.

R-2 Chain restrictions in the Portola area and down the Feather River Canyon below the Greenville Wye: Chains are required on all vehicles except four-wheel drives with snow tread tires on all four wheels and provided that tire traction devices for at least one set of drive wheels are carried in or upon the vehicle.
