THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM PST SUNDAY. DUE TO THE UPGRADE TO THIS WARNING...THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY AND WINTER STORM WATCH ARE NO LONGER IN EFFECT. * TIMING: PERIODS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING. A SECOND STORM WILL MOVE INLAND TODAY BRINGING HEAVY SNOW TO THE AREA LATER THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. * SNOW LEVEL: 4000 TO 5000 FEET IN WESTERN PLUMAS COUNTY... 5000 TO 6000 FEET OVER THE WEST SLOPES OF THE SIERRA NEVADA. * MAIN IMPACT: ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WITH THE SECOND STORM SHOULD BE 1 TO 2 FEET FOR LOWER ELEVATIONS OF THE SIERRA MOUNTAINS AND OVER 2 FEET NEAR RIDGETOPS. * OTHER IMPACTS: STRONG SOUTHERLY WIND GUSTS FROM 50 TO 60 MPH OVER HIGHER TERRAIN THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT WILL RESULT IN AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WITH NEAR ZERO VISIBILITIES.
