Residents and visitors are invited on an adventure of the senses Saturday, March 27, at the Shanghai Shindig in Greenville.
Renowned Chinese chef Peter Chu of Redding and locally renowned dessert chef Marty Shower will provide adventures for palates.
Volunteers will transform the town hall into a venue befitting the cosmopolitan theme, and servers will enhance that feeling with their colorful far-eastern costumes.
Shindig sports enthusiasts will be especially pleased with some of the auction items, which include signed Raiders helmets, guided fishing, hunting and birding trips, and tickets to sporting events.
Other items include overnight stays and dinners, antiques, furniture, artwork, a year’s worth of desserts, a fully catered dinner for six to eight people, and other items.
Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and dessert at 6:30 p.m. and a live auction at 7:30 p.m.
The event is a fund-raiser for the Indian Valley Community Center, where an open house that same day, from 2-5 p.m., will provide residents with an opportunity to see what’s left to do before the grand opening in June.
The center is located on Highway 89 in Greenville, across from the Sierra Sunrise Coffee House and Deli.
Shanghai Shindig tickets are available at the balloon and video counter of Evergreen Market in Greenville, at Young’s Market in Taylorsville and at Pangaea in Quincy.
