.A Cold Low Pressure System Will Be Moving Off The Eastern Pacific
And Into Northern California On Sunday. This System Will Bring
Periods Of Heavy Snow...Strong Winds And Relatively Low Snow
Levels For This Time Of Year.

Travel Difficulties Over The Major
Passes Of The Sierra Nevada And Cascade Range Will Become Likely
By Late Sunday Afternoon And Evening As Heavy Snow Combines With
Strong Winds. Snow Showers Are Expected To Continue Into Monday
With Decreasing Winds. If Traveling Into The Sierra Cascade Range
Late Sunday Through Monday...Be Prepared For Winter Like Weather
Conditions And Check The Latest Weather And Road Reports Before
Departure.

Monday Afternoon Above 4500 Feet...

The National Weather Service In Sacramento Has Issued A Winter
Storm Watch Above 4500 Feet...Which Is In Effect From Sunday
Afternoon Through Monday Afternoon For The West Slopes Of The
Sierra And For Western Plumas County Including Lassen Park.

• Snow Accumulations: Snow Accumulations Between Sunday And Monday
Afternoons Above 4500 Feet Will Reach Around 12 To 18 Inches
With Up To Two Feet Of New Snow Above The 7000 Foot Level.

• Elevation: Snow Levels Will Average Around 4000 To 4500 Feet
Sunday Through Monday But May Drop To As Low As 3000 To 4000
Feet Late Sunday Night And Early Monday.

• Timing: Snow Will Begin Sunday Afternoon Switching To More
Showery Conditions By Early Monday Morning.

• Locations Include: Chester And Blue Canyon As Well As
Carson...Echo And Donner Summits.

• Winds: Wind Gusts Will Be Increasing Sunday Afternoon With Gusts
Reaching 40 To 50 Mph Highest Elevations. Gusty Winds Will
Continue Through Monday Afternoon Before Decreasing.

• Impacts: Chain Requirements And Travel Restrictions Will Be
Likely Over The Major Sierra Cascade Passes. Significant Changes
To A More Winter Like Pattern Will Occur Between The First And
Second Halves Of The Weekend.
