The fifth annual charity bass tournament was held Saturday, May 8, on Lake Almanor and sponsored by the Mountain Bass Association.
This year’s proceeds benefited the Lassen County Toys for Tots Foundation and included 29 teams from all over Northern California.
Bob Trussell and members of the Lassen County Search and Rescue were on hand to help with check-in and weigh fish at the lake.
Aaron Grooms handed Trussel a check in the amount of $1,200 that went to the Toys for Tots fund.
First place went to Robert Tibbets and Mike Pearce who weighed in with a total of 17.92 pounds of fish and won $550 in prize money. Second place went to Tony Thomacy and Steve Shaffer with 15.92 pounds and $312.50. Third place went to Tim Zanheiser and Ryan Huber with 15.91 pounds and $162.50.
Fourth place went to Ray Langley and Rick Bogue with 15.54 pounds and $125. Fifth place was George Spear and Russ Carney with 15.45 and $100.
Tibbets and Pearce took the big fish payout with a 4.31 pound monster fish. The next big fish went to Spear and Carney with a fish weighing 4.08 pounds.
