Historic Johnsville Lodge will become property of the State of California and will become part of the new Plumas Eureka State Park. The old building, now completely remodeled, was built in the late 1850's and some of the hand hewn timbers measure 23 feet by 25 feet and hand made nails were used for the construction.
30 YEARS AGO... 1980
Well known actor Marlon Brando was a recent weekend visitor at the Fire Mountain Lodge on Highway 36 and he also paid a visit to Chester's Timber House Restaurant before leaving the area.
It was announced this week that the Plumas County Board of Supervisors renamed the Beckwourth Airport as Nervino Airport, honoring Frank Nervino, the manager of that facility for more than 35 years.
10 YEARS AGO... 2000
Bar codes on some 50,000 pieces of library materials including books and videos are being placed this week by library staff and volunteers in all Plumas County libraries. New library cards will be scanned as well.
