80 YEARS AGO... 1930
California's record of progress since its admission to the Union 80 years ago will be strikingly portrayed at the California State Fair which opens this week. The sate fair's theme "80 Years of Progress" was selected to commemorate the milestone.
Greenville was named as the alternate government county seat of Plumas County by the Plumas County Board of Supervisors this week in case the courthouse in Quincy is blown up or otherwise prevented from functioning as the regular governing seat.
30 YEARS AGO... 1980
1979-1980 will go down in weather history books as being wet but not white. The weather year, which ended July 1, reversed the status of the previous year which featured an abnormal amount of snow but little precipitation.
10 YEARS AGO... 2000
The Quincy Chamber of Commerce pitched a canopy and grilled hot dogs for the employees of Feather Publishing Company and chamber members Tuesday evening at the newspaper site. The chamber if periodically honoring local businesses. Feather Publishing Company---the Feather River Bulletin was selected by the chamber because of its longevity in the community, it's 84 some employees and $1.5 million annual payroll.
