Whitehawk Ranch ladies were challenged to shoot their best low net scores against their pro's low gross score in a "Beat The Pro" contest last Tuesday. And play well they did... 13 of the 17 ladies who played that day "Beat Their Pro"! Christy Randall shot an amazing 64 low net to take first place, followed by a tie for second at 66 between Patty McNamara & Arline Simpson and Jill Zumwalt placed third with a net 67.
Our pro, Van Batchelder, shot a smooth 73 that day, including a beautiful eagle on the par 5 15th hole. The lady golfers were able to place their bets before the round, anywhere between $5 and $100, doubling their money as pro shop credit if they beat their pro... there's going to be a lot of shopping going on now in the Whitehawk Ranch pro shop!
Match play continued with Christy Randall and Marcia Ziegler squaring off for a slot in the semi-finals. After 18 holes of hard fought and close play, Marcia Zeigler won the match on hole #18 and will now face Patty McNamara... the winner of that match advancing to the finals against Lynn Smith.
The Aug. 12 Thursday Night Scramble was a hotly contested event. We had six teams, three coming in at 4 under which did them no good. For second place the team of Lynn and Gary McClellan, Greg Stevens and Chuck Thrall came in at 6 under, and David Smuts, Casey Kingdon, Jim Bryant and Ron Ridge took first at seven under.
Dave "the Crusher" Smuts came closest to the hole and Paul "Prime Rib" Eagan had the longest drive.
We will continue our scrambles until at least Sept. 30, weather permitting, so it's still not too late to come out and join us for a great evening.
The ladies "Bye, Bye Birdies" are still meeting at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays, all are invited.
The course is in great shape and everyone has a super time, hope to see you there.
