Last minute voters dropping off Measure B ballots

Kathy Williams, Plumas County clerk/recorder, reports that voters are bringing in last minute ballots for the Measure B hospital tax cap election this morning at a rate of about two every 10 minutes. That's unprecedented, like most everything about this election.

Williams said that for today only, the Quincy post office will be pulling and holding election ballots it receives, rather than having them go the usual route to Reno and back, which would have them here too late to be counted.

Plumas District Hospital residents who want their votes included can take their ballots to either the post office until 4:30 p.m. or the county elections office until 8 p.m.

At 11:30 this morning, Tuesday, Aug. 31, 63 percent of district voters had returned their ballots. That's 2,818 of the 4,481 registered to vote in the hospital district.

The results of the election will be available at the county elections office moments after 8 p.m. tonight. Results will be posted at plumasnews.com shortly after that.
