|These are the stories we are working on for this week's newspaper:|
A Chevy Colorado, driven by Blatazar Viscarra, 83, of Greenville struck pedestrian Joann Turk of Quincy as she crossed Main Street just east of its intersection with Court Street in Quincy.
According to the California Highway Patrol report, the morning sun blinded Viscarra, who was traveling 10 – 12 mph and did not see Turk, 90.
Viscarra’s 81-year-old wife, Maria, saw Turk as she crossed the road and shouted “Lady!” to her husband. However, the right corner of the vehicle struck Turk, who rolled up onto the hood of the pickup then fell onto the road.
Turk was transported to Plumas District Hospital with a fractured hip and a deep laceration to her left arm.
Investigation into the accident is continuing.
More information will be posted as soon as additional details are known.
