80 YEARS AGO.....1930

Extensive construction work is going on at Keddie Inn where an influx of workers on the Western Pacific Railroad project has filed the Inn and all the adjacent cottages. Six new cottages are now under construction to further facilitate the railroad workers.

50 YEARS AGO.......1960

Lookout stations maintained by the Plumas National Forest, used primarily to spot forest fires, have been a major tourist attraction this tourist season since June. A total of 3,695 visitors have gone to the high spots to look over the Feather River country and environs. The Mills Peak lookout in central Plumas County was the most popular with 1520 visitors. Mt. Hough lookout hosted 510 visitors, Spanish Peak lookout 345 visitors and six at Kellogg lookout.

30 YEARS AGO......1980

Complaints by small logging companies against United States Forest Service timber sale policies and procedures was the topic of the two and half hour jam-packed public hearing meeting held at the Plumas County Superior Courtroom at the courthouse Wednesday.

10 YEARS AGO.....2000

Garrett Olney has spent more than $21,000 in an effort to keep his job as Plumas County Superior Court judge while opponent Craig Settlemire has spent more than $12,000 to unseat him.
