  • Deputy shooting fallout: The children of a Portola man who was shot and killed at Eastern Plumas Health Care last year are seeking millions of dollars in damages.
  • The trout must go: The state is planning to pull all of the brook trout out of a Plumas County lake in order to protect the yellow-legged frog.
  • Inspections delayed: Cal Fire was scheduled to begin property inspections this week, but decided to wait until the public could better understand what the inspectors are doing.

TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.

WEDNESDAY ABOVE 4500 FEET...

A WINTER STORM WARNING ABOVE 4500 FEET REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL
10 AM PST WEDNESDAY FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.

* TIMING: SNOW IS EXPECTED OFF AND ON THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
HEAVIEST SNOW WILL BE LATE THIS EVENING INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY
MORNING. SNOW LEVELS...INITIALLY NEAR 4500 FEET IN LASSEN
PARK...WILL FALL TO NEAR 2000 FEET BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

* SNOWFALL: 1 TO 2 FEET OF SNOW ABOVE 7000 FEET...6 TO 12 INCHES
ABOVE 4500 FEET. SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW MAY FALL DOWN TO AROUND
3000 FEET ON WEDNESDAY.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS HIGHER
MOUNTAIN PASSES THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* MAIN IMPACTS: HAZARDOUS TRAVELING WITH AREAS OF WHITE OUT
CONDITIONS AT MOUNTAIN PASS LEVELS.

SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING.
