Lassen Municipal Utility District is currently investigating an incident, which occurred late Tuesday, afternoon March 30, involving two unidentified teens who made contact with high voltage power lines in the Leavitt Lake Subdivision area.
It is unknown at this time the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, however LMUD has been in contact with emergency response crews and is conducting an on-sight safety inspection and investigation. While specific details about the incident have not been released such as the names of the boys, they are about 13 years old and allegedly made contact with a high voltage line while holding an irrigation pipe. The two boys were by themselves at the time of the incident, said a spokesperson of the Susanville Interagency Fire Incident Command Center.
The exact extent of the boy's injuries has not been released but one boy is allegedly going to be released today with burns and the other is in critical condition at Renown Medical Center.
"The thoughts and prayers of everyone at LMUD go out to the children and their families in this very traumatic time," said Keri Richards, of LMUD.
LMUD would like to remind customers that high voltage lines are extremely dangerous. LMUD would like everyone educate all family members, particularly young children about the hazards of electricity.
