Filing period for special district election closes
The filing period for the Nov. 8 Uniform District Election has closed, and just one district in Plumas County has contested board seats. A lack of candidates leaves six districts needing to make appointments.
Five candidates will vie for three four-year seats on the East Quincy Community Services District board: former general manager Mary Henrici; incumbents Stephen Grant, Ernest R. Eaton Jr. and Greg Margason; and Michael T. Green, a water/wastewater operator.
Among the districts without contested seats, six districts will not have a board quorum unless appointments are made before new terms start Dec. 2. Those districts are: Sierra Valley Fire, Indian Valley Recreation and Park District, Prattville-Almanor Fire Protection District, Almanor Recreation and Park District, C-Road Community Services District and Long Valley Community Services District. Residents interested in serving on one of these boards should contact the respective district.
Voters in the West Almanor Community Services District will consider Measure A, a special tax, in the Nov. 8 election.
Another special tax, Measure B, will go before voters in the Prattville-Almanor Fire Protection District.
The election will be all vote-by-mail.
