Plumas County’s famous and distinctive advertising symbol--the red feather--will be carried into new fields and venues by residents who are having the feather painted on their automobiles.

50 YEARS AGO.....,.....1961

A new housing subdivision in Chester, named Vision Lake Tract, consisting of 191 lots situated just south of Chester High School, has been approved by the Plumas County Planning Commission. The property which surrounds a small lake has been cleared and roads have been put in.

25 YEARS AGO........1986

The Plumas County fair board delayed it’s decision to re-advertise for a county fair manager after being unable to choose from among 15 applicants to replace Al Plank.

The Plumas County Chamber of Commerce elected new directors: Edie Hamby of Eastern Plumas County, Dennis Mason of the Chester-Lake Almanor area, Mike Taborski of the Quincy area,  Shari Alvers and Mike Maguire of the Indian Valley area.

10 YEARS AGO............2001

The Feather River College trustees moved a step closer to approving plans for a football program in the fall.

It was announced this week that Plumas County will purchase the brick Feather Publishing Company building located adjacent to the Plumas County courthouse in Quincy, gaining an estimated 12,000 square feet of additional space, for the Plumas County Planning and Building departments.
