Opportunity to Comment on the Willow Ranch Creek Mining Project
The Forest Service, Plumas National Forest, Beckwourth Ranger District, is proposing to approve a Plan of Operations for mineral exploration. The Plan of Operations would allow claim owner Richard Fritz to conduct exploratory mining activities on National Forest System lands. The claimant's proposal involves excavation of seven test trenches to remove mineral vein and surrounding material. Excavation would be completed with a rubber tired backhoe.  Trenches will be located along the ridgetop and side slopes adjacent to an old 4 wheel drive road. Improvements will be made to this road to allow for access. Samples will be taken off site for processing. Top soil and waste material from the trenches will be stockpiled for reclamation.  Reclamation will include replacing excavated material and grading the area to natural topography.
