The Beckwourth Ranger District is reviewing a proposal to allow the Sierra Butte Trail Stewardship to organize a "Lost Sierra 50 k Endurance Run" on September 29, 2012. This proposed event will take place on system trails and system Forest Service roads in Plumas County, Management Area 35 (Lakes Basin). This proposal will bring commerce to Eastern Plumas County after the peak tourist season. The net proceeds from this event benefit the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship trail maintenance program.

The Forest Service, Plumas National Forest, Beckwourth Ranger District, considering a Special Use Permit request to allow the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship to organize the Lost Sierra Endurance Run ,50 k (32 mile), 22.5 k (14 mile). This run will take place on system roads and trails in Management Area 35 (Lakes Basin). This proposed event would promote commerce in Eastern Plumas County at the tail-end of the tourist season. The net proceeds from this event benefit the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship trail maintenance program. The following Categorical Exclusion Category will be used for this project; 36 CFR 220.6 (e)(6), FSH 1909.15_30_32.12, 09/30/2010.
(8) Approval, modification, or continuation of minor, short term (1 year or less) special uses of national Forest System Lands.
Public Opportunity to Comment: Pursuant to 36 CFR 36 CFR 215.5, This is an opportunity for the public to provide written or oral comments on the proposed action. All comments must be received no later than 30 days following the date of publication of this legal notice in the Portola Reporter newspaper, Portola, CA.

Opportunity to Comment on the 2012 Antelope Cattle Guard
The Beckwourth Ranger District proposes to replace the painted cattle guard with a steel cattle guard near top of Janesville Grade. The project is located in Sec 33 T28N R13E. A draft Decision Memo detailing the proposal is available for review at the Beckwourth Ranger Station. This comment period is being provided pursuant to the March 19, 2012 order issued by the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of California in Case No. CV F11-679LJO DLB.
